The opening of the Museum of Modern Art (MSN) in Warsaw was supposed to be an important event for Polish culture and art. The museum is a long-awaited project that has the potential to become a center of modern art in Poland, providing access to works by contemporary artists from Poland and abroad. The modern architecture of the building, combined with an interesting program of exhibitions and events, can attract both Warsaw residents and tourists. The museum is also intended to play an educational role, inspiring young artists and promoting contemporary art in Poland. So, encouraged by this information, I went sightseeing…
However, currently (December 2024), only the ground floor of the MSN is available for viewing, where there is almost nothing to see, apart from the only distinctive exhibition object, which is an old, slightly bent, microwave parabolic antenna with a diameter of about 3 meters, decorated with prayer: “God make me the most famous so I can escape this place“… It seems that this is an interesting reference to the exhibit called “nosnik dreblinek“, an important prop from the film “I Don’t Like Mondays“. The cafe on the ground floor of the MSN is unfortunately closed, and the only working element in the Museum is… the cloakroom. Exhibitions are being planned on the upper levels of the Museum and these levels are not available to visitors. Their opening is announced for February 2025, according to information provided by the staff.
